Six And Counting!

The Texas Senate includes an all-time high number of female members this session. Six of the 31 Senators are women, including Senator Jane Nelson, R-Flower Mound; Senator Judith Zaffirini, D-Laredo; Senator Florence Shapiro, R-Plano; Senator Joan Huffman, R-Houston; and Senator Wendy Davis, D-Fort Worth. Senator Nelson affectionately refers to the women of the Senate as the "momma caucus." "There's a lot more girl power in the Senate this session, and that's a positive development for young women throughout our state," Senator Nelson said.
